The Christmas Pudding 5 Mile Dash

Having started this first year of running with a Nice Work event it seemed appropriate to end it with another event by the same organisers and what a treat. The course had to be shortened a bit because of the mud from the recent storms but who cares, 2 laps of glorious scenery, a short and nasty climb and a brilliantly absurd descent down a muddy hill the other side made this challenging but hugely enjoyable.

The organisation was very slick, the marshalls were encouraging and accurate in their directions and the value for money was brilliant when you consider a Xmas pud, an original medal, a mince pie and mulled wine were waiting for you at the end.

I can't wait for next years event - very uplifting! And muddy.

The Kent Christmas Cracker 5

Perfect running conditions, weather and track. Well organized and friendly race with a Santa medal and Christmas pud. Thanks to all the marshals, organizers and the 1000s of miners who put all the stuff there for us to run on! Definitely one for my diary next year. Merry Christmas all.

The Hadleigh 2012 Legacy 10k Run

I knew it would be tough and it didn't disappoint. Superb location - the views would have been admirable if only you could take your eyes off where you were putting your feet! Great support and a special mention for the marshalls - conditions for them were atrocious yet they remained enthusiastic and encouraging throughout the race. Good tip in the race instructions to bring a flask of hot drink for afterwards - I wouldn't have thought of it myself and it really did the trick. Really nice medal for finishers and a Jaffa Cake (yay!)

The Tenterden 5

It's taking part in events like these that makes running such a joy. A wonderful course, not flat but enough of a challenge to justify a few extra jaffa cakes at the finish.

The Bridlington Easter 5 Mile Dash

Really great organisation, lovely organisers, fabulous marshals (thank you!). We entered late so had to pick our numbers up on the day; no rush, no fuss, nothing - the numbers were easily to hand and given with a smile :) The marshals were super, clapping and shouting encouragement for everyone and were super smiley. They were placed at regular intervals so (other than a small mishap!) no one got lost.

I was there with quite a few of my running group, many were there just with their families and some individuals. There was a variety of paces run so it's definitely suitable for all runners and abilities. The route was around the cliff twice, then through the gardens at Sewerby. The course included grass, path and bark and went past some wonderful flowers and through woodland.

Overall, I really, really enjoyed it and will definitely be back next year. Lovely local feel, without the snobbery that some smaller events are tainted with. A big thanks to the organisers :)

The Watford 10k

Easy to get to from the main town centre about 25 minute walk. Plenty of facilities on-site, refreshments, toilets etc, baggage drop and number collection. Set in lovely location, wouldn't think you were on the edge of a town. Expected a undulating course and knew it wouldn't be PB material but still a great 10km course to do. Passing through some gorgeous woodland, on a hot day it was nice to be in the shade. I imagine if this route is used on a wet day it could get really fun as some nice short descents and ascents.
