Name: Rachael Wood
Role: Managing Director
About me: Rachael joined the team in 2018 as Marketing Manager, managing our social media and marketing activity. It didn’t take long for her creativity, communication skills and the ability to think strategically to shine through and she quickly progressed to Marketing Director. In January 2021 the owners hung up their running shoes and sold the business making Rachael the natural choice to become MD. She leads the business, and the team, with passion, focus, creativity, and integrity - making sure the runners are at the heart of every decision. Rachael has a depth of knowledge and understanding of what is required to organise and deliver exceptional races, she is quick to respond to changing circumstances while maintaining an upbeat, can-do-attitude. Over the past three years, she has built an extensive network in the sporting community and whilst everyone may not know Rachael by name, they know her by the smile and encouragement she gives each runner as the start of our races. Rachael’s love and passion for organising top class sporting events is undeniable “I love the buzz of the start and finish line and cheering runners on”
Name: Liam Burke
Role: Operations Director
About me: Liam has been full time with the team for nearly 10 years but has around fifteen years race experience as a helper, a race timer, a race organiser - and a participant. He is now the Operations Director for Nice Work as well as lead timer for our events as well as Race Director in his own right for several of our events. If you don't see him on the registration desk on race day you are more than likely to see him on the start line.
Name: Thom Sands
Role: Marketing Assistant
About me: Thom joined the Nice Work office team in October 2020 as Marketing Assistant and graphic design. Newly graduated from Manchester Uni, Thom is responsible for social media and marketing activities. An avid football fan but has started running to see what it is all about and took on the Beckley 10k as his first race!
Name: Tim Mann
Role: Operations Manager
About me: Tim joined the team in September 2021 as Operations Assistant. Fresh off the slopes of Austria, he joins us with a wealth of experience having spent the last six years managing a number of resorts and chalets across Austria. Tim is a hands-on leader with a proven track record of leading teams to deliver business results and to enhance the customer experience. Tim enjoys a challenge both personally and professionally and enjoyed skiing in his time in Austria as well as hiking in the summer. We have yet to get him on the starting blocks of a Nice Work race, but there is still time...
Name: James Smeed
Role: Event Admininstrator
About me: James joined us in July 2021 as a temporary member of staff supporting the event administrator - he has done such a great job that we have asked him to stay a little longer... James works behind the scenes supporting the MD and the team to ensure that we have everything we need on the day as well as making sure our runners have the best possible experience from the moment they receive their race pack to running on the day and post race medals. James is a popular and well-known locally - playing cricket for Rye First team. He is also an avid football fan.
