The Gravesend Floodlit 10k and 5K Series Race 7

Location: Cyclopark, The Tollgate, Wrotham Road, Gravesend, Kent, DA11 7NP
Date: Thursday 28th October 2021
Time: 19:30

The Gravesend Floodlit Series is back!

Nice Work is pleased to announce our return to the Gravesend Cyclopark in 2021, for our popular Floodlit series. Due to the postponement of the majority of the Winter Series, we are excited to launch a new nine race series which will run monthly throughout the year from April through to December.

Start line opens: 6.30pm

Start line closes: 7:30pm

The series offers a unique opportunity to sharpen up your speed work throughout the year. The tarmac course is floodlit and its undulating nature will offer just enough of a challenge whilst still allowing for some fast times. The races are all UK Athletics licenced, accurately measured and traffic free.

The races are suitable for both experienced and first-time runners. They are great training for marathon speedwork, as part of a schedule to complete your first 5K or 10K – perfect too for those just looking for a timed, measured run on a weekday night.

Great value

These are no frills events and no medals are awarded. However, we do offer prizes for leading runners and age category winners in the 10k and prizes in the 5k for the first three males and females only. In addition, we will be presenting overall series prizes for the leading three males and females in both races, with the best six races to count.

Entry fees are kept as low as possible, with those taking park in the whole series able to race for under £10 a race. Reduced fees are also on offer for clubs and groups who bring a minimum of six runners to a race.

The Course

The Gravesend Floodlit 10k and 5k courses use the tarmac cycle circuit. The 10k event will cover four laps and the 5k event will be two laps. The route will be clearly marked using directional cones to guide you around the course. The bulk of the route is floodlit, although there is no official floodlighting at the extremities of the course. We do try and add some additional lighting here to guide you around the circuit. Those who are not used to night time or low light running will find headtorches useful.

The route is an undulating but fast course with a couple of inclines to contend with, along with a long downhill section and covers the tarmac roads using the outer circuit of the Cyclopark.

First Aid

St John Ambulance or an alternative medical provider will be in attendance on the night and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep runner following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.

‚ÄčPoints scored in each race count towards overall Series prizes, with the best five races to count towards the final series results.

Your individual time and position will be recorded by your electronic chip. Results should be available on our website www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as you cross the finish line. Provisional results will be published as soon as possible after the race has finished and final results will be published as soon as is practical on the day after the race.

Trophies and awards will be sent in the post after the event.

All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results by email as soon as possible on the first working day after the race.

Testimonials

"I thoroughly enjoyed the experience: the scenery was stunning, the support from the crowds in the villages was uplifting, and there was plenty of camaraderie amongst the runners. Add to this the excellent organisation and post-race biscuits - I'd say Nice Work have a got a winner on their hands here. "
