Come join us in the beautiful Rye Harbour Reserve for this brand NEW Ekiden relay event and the first of its kind in Sussex!
Ekiden is a long-distance, multistage relay race, based on a traditional Japanese concept – the word ‘Ekiden’ originally referred to a post-horse or stagecoach which transmitted communications in stages.
This relay is a team event, each member of the team runs a variety of distances to complete a half marathon in total. There are six stages in the following order 5k, 2.5k, 7.5k, 2.5k, 2.5k, 1k. This event is not just a test of speed but also tactics. Can you get the combination right and clinch the title?
We will also have a Junior Ekiden for the younger runners taking place shortly before the main event between 5-6pm. Kids teams are teams of 5 each running 1k on an out and back course starting from the event village located on the green outside the caravan park. Depending on entries, prizes will be awarded by school year group.
