The Chas Ryman Memorial 10 Mile Road Race returns once again in 2018 to the undulating roads in and around Sittingbourne. The 2018 race is a Kent Grand Prix Race.
Organised by Sittingbourne Striders this race has grown in popularity over the years including a record entry of over 400 runners in 2015 and always receives great feedback. The course uses the picturesque country lanes surrounding Sittingbourne through Rodmersham Green and Kingsdown before returning to Highsted Valley through Bluetown.
The race HQ is located at Highsted Grammar School and there is a baggage area, toilets and a refreshment stall and BBQ providing hot food for all.
All finishers will receive a medal, technical t-shirt and a goody bag.
The race will also be attended by a local sports firms who will be selling running merchandise.
Race numbers and timing chips will be posted out to runners roughly two weeks before race day.
There will also be a 2K Fun Run which will take place at 09:30 am and entries for this race will only be available on the day of the race.
Baggage Drop Off
The Course The Sittingbourne 10 Mile course is a single lap route covering the roads paths surrounding Sittingbourne through Rodmersham Green and Erriotwood. The course has been officially measured and carries a certificate of course accuracy. The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. As the route takes place on open roads headphones are not permitted for this event and may result in disqualifcation.
The route is a classified as undulating and includes a couple of challenging inclines.
First Aid St John Ambulance will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
Your individual time and position will be recorded by your electronic chip. We will endeavour to display results as they come into the race centre. Results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.
Highstead Grammar School Club is around a mile outside the centre of Sittingbourne. There will be parking available for those wishing to drive to the event.
The nearest railway station is Sittingbourne which is around a 15 minute walk from the race HQ. There is also a bus service from Sittingbourne Station to The Burrs, which is just a short walk from the race location.
