It's GOLD for Monsal Trail
More fantastic news and more fantastic feedback from the people who matter most - YOU, our runners.
We are utterly thrilled to receive a GOLD award from Racecheck for our Monsal Trail October races. This is based on the reviews and comments from runners at the race and is a significant achievement. Runners can independently pass on comments and scores for their race and to get the gold award, really does require some consistency. What is that we hear you ask? Well, runners offer a star rating and the average score from a minimum of 30 replies, needs to be above 4.8 out of 5.0!
So this takes some doing and is a wonderful reward for everyone associated with the event delivery, from the team on the day, the team behind the scenes and also, those wonderful people who volunteer their time with us to bring the whole package together.
But what IS it about this race that keeps people coming back, year after year? Well, let's see what our runners have to say...
Gaby - The Nice Work Monsal Trail 10k/ Half Marathon is run on one of the most scenic routes in the White Peaks. It follows a disused railway line through the valley of the river Wye from Bakewell through Hassop Station towards the Cressbrook Dale, and along the route, takes in a series of tunnels. One, the Headstone Tunnel, leads out on to the Monsal Head Viaduct - stunning views guaranteed. The route is largely flat, the track is wide and hard standing, and an additional bonus is that the route out from Bakewell climbs ever so slightly, which means the run back is downhill! This is the perfect out-and-back race for those wanting to run hard - the wide, largely flat trails allow for hard running - but the real beauty of the Monsal trail races shows itself in the support for first timers and less speedy finishers. The 10k and Half Marathon runners set out at the same time. The 10k runners turn back in the middle of the first tunnel, the Half Marathon runners turn after the third tunnel. As an out-and-back, this is a very sociable route with lots of high fives along the route. Nobody comes last at a Nice Work event, with its cheerful sweep marshals bringing the final runners in to the finish at Bakewell Station.
Coel - I was very impressed with every aspect of the event; from the communication, to the signage and all other considerations they clearly put time and effort into.
Jonathan - Really friendly event, all the runners supported and encouraged each other. The race event team were really good and very helpful. The marshals on the course were excellent very clear with instructions and offered great encouragement. Altogether a well run and very enjoyable event!!
Christopher - Great event and beautiful course. A must-do for any serious athlete!
We could go on! But perhaps the best thing to do is come and experience it for yourself? We're back there in March and October next year, but don't hang about as these races always sell out! Well, you can see why now!
Our sincerest thanks to all of our runners who've contributed to this incredible award!
