The RAF Museum London is thrilled to announce that the Spitfire 10K will take place on Saturday 27 August 2022. Sign up for this unique event – your support enables the RAF Museum, a registered Charity, to continue to tell the inspiring stories of RAF personnel, just like The Few – the courageous Battle of Britain Pilots and Crew who fought in the skies above Britain in 1940.
If you are unable to attend the race at the RAF Museum London, check out our Virtual Spitfire 10K race – you can join from anywhere!
Race at the RAF Museum London
The run will take you around the edge of the historic London Aerodrome that once existed in Colindale. This is a road race so you will be running along pathways and the streets that follow the old airfield. The race will start on the museum green space, where you will run around our ‘taxiway’ that evokes the historic RAF Hendon Base, then exit the Museum by running past our Spitfire Gate Guardian. Once you’ve completed two laps you will run back into the Museum past the Spitfire, through Hangar 1 and under the beautiful Short Sunderland Flying boat, before crossing the finish line.
Once you cross the finish line you will receive the highly coveted Spitfire 10K race medal.
Run with The Few!
Our Roll of Honour cards are one of the most popular elements of the race. They enable you to carry the name of a Battle of Britain serviceman with you on your run.
You will receive your Roll of Honour card with your race pack in early August giving you enough time to research the incredible life of ‘your’ pilot and share their stories. Whether you talk about your pilot with your family and friends or share their stories on social media – we want you to get involved and keep their memory alive!
Raise £100 and receive your Spitfire 10K running top for free!
Help us further honour those who defended our skies during the Battle of Britain by fundraising for the Museum. Pledge to raise £100 and you will receive your Spitfire 10K running top for free. With your help, we are hoping to reach a fundraising target, in addition to your entry, of £10,000 – £1,000 for every kilometre you will be running!
£10,000 could provide our Access and Learning team with the resources to deliver three hundred Battle of Britain workshops to over 10,000 children, ensuring the stories, like those of the pilots whose name you will be wearing on your Roll of Honour card on race day, are shared with future generations.
If you would like to join our amazing team of fundraisers, please select this option when you register.
