The Air Tattoo is celebrating a remarkable milestone this year – its 50th Anniversary. Staged at North Weald airfield in 1971, the first Air Tattoo was supported by the Royal Air Force, Army Air Corps, five international air arms and civilian operated vintage aircraft such as the Supermarine Spitfire and Gloster Gladiator. Now located at RAF Fairford, courtesy of our United States Air Force friends, and with the ongoing support of the Royal Air Force, the event and has gone on to be recognised as the world’s largest military airshow, with 56 nations having taken part to date.
To celebrate this iconic airshow the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises are launching the ‘Air Tattoo 50 - Anniversary Challenge’. This involves walking, running, cycling (or crawling!) 50 Miles in 50 Days. For families and for our older or younger runners, we also have a 50km option!
The challenge will officially begin on 1 September until the 20 October 2021, giving you 50 days to clock your 50 miles or 50kms.

The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of aviators and engineers whether through the Air Tattoo or one of their many flying and STEM initiatives. Most of their income for grants, projects and scholarships comes from the Royal International Air Tattoo, but after two cancellations, now more than ever, your support is needed to retain their flying and STEM schemes and to continue to provide opportunities for young people to reach their potential in air and space.
