Calling all Nordic walkers, walkers and speedhykers!
This year we are delighted to launch the NEW Purbeck Nordic Virtual Walking Festival. It’s a chance to get involved in this popular event wherever you are in the world!
There is a choice of two distances – The full marathon (its actually nearer 27 miles) and 16 miler.
The virtual event takes place on 18th September, incorporating the live Purbeck Festival weekend. There are three categories to take part in – Walking, Nordic walking and Speedhyke.
(NB Nordic walking means you walk using two poles using correct NW technique at all times whilst Speedhyking allows you to traverse quickly with your poles, breaking into a run if you wish – please be honest about the category you enter!)
All finishers will receive our fantastic Purbeck WALX Festival medal.
The Purbeck WALX Festival
The full festival takes place on the 17th 18th & 19th September and is possibly one of the most scenic events in the UK – the challenges are on the Saturday! Swanage, Purbeck and the Jurassic Coast has spectacular history, landscapes and views. It has been the home to the Purbeck Marathon and Purbeck 16 for a number of years and is a firm favourite on the UK’s race calendar.
The course has over 2000 feet of climbs but you can choose one of your favourite routes wherever you live. The advantage of a virtual option this year is that you can take part anywhere in the world and at a pace that suits you best.
Whether you are new to Walking/Nordic walking or an experienced athlete, don’t miss out on this fantastic new virtual event!
Once you have booked your place, we will send you a step-by-step guide to completing a virtual event and how to submit your race results.
