We are delighted to announce our March Charity virtual race, continuing to support small charities.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our virtual events and especially our monthly charity races. The money raised by you by taking part is making a real difference and enabling our charity sector to continue to support those in need.
March Race Partner – The Sussex Snowdrop Trust
The symbol of the Snowdrop represents hope and consolation. The Snowdrop Care at Home Team provide vital nursing care in the homes of children who have a life threatening or terminal illness. The charity embraces the whole family when they receive the news that their precious child is ill.
The Sussex Snowdrop Trust is currently supporting 64 families in the local area. The Snowdrop Care at Home Team are with the families every step of the way, providing nursing care at home, as well as offering emotional and financial support for these families.
Last year Nice Work organised the Witterings Beach Run as a fundraising race for the charity, but sadly due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the race is on hold for a year. We are keen to continue to support the amazing wok of The Sussex Snowdrop Trust.
Snowdrops endure the most harsh conditions in winter and emerge as the first signs of Spring. We can all relate to this sentiment whilst enduring a third lockdown and so, this is our inspiration for our March Challenge!
The Snowdrop Charity Spring Challenge
In our March challenge, we encourage you to walk, run or cycle a mile for every family that the charity supports. That’s a total of 64 miles during the month of March. For families and our younger runners who wish to take part then we have the 64km challenge. Discounted family entries are available.
Race Dates – 1st to 31st March 2021 – you have the whole month to complete your chosen distance!
There will be a stunning bespoke medal for all finishers and we will have spot prizes for those who walk, run or cycle the furthest distance. You don’t have to stop at 64, keep going!
Di Levantine, Chairman and Co-Founder of The Sussex Snowdrop Trust, “ This Snowdrop Spring Challenge is so important to us at this time. It is important not only for the charity’s fundraising needs but for our own wellbeing and motivation. When a family receives the devastating news that their child has a life threatening or terminal illness, there is a feeling of being overwhelmed but parents can not give up. At that moment, their whole world has been turned upside down. They are now carers and the challenges they face are huge. The charity provides nurses to help families navigate how to care for their sick child.
By taking on the 64 mile Spring challenge you are helping the 64 families we support. What a sense of achievement and focus that is. It provides hope for the future for many who are struggling. However you achieve the 64 mile target, through walking, running or cycling, we are so grateful for your input. Being in nature is such a comfort and the sight of a snowdrop gives us all hope. “
