Chocks away! Get ready for the Virtual Spitfire 10K!
The Virtual Spitfire 10K is back! Tailor your race experience to fit your schedule and abilities – a great opportunity for runners from all over the UK, and across the world to run in honour of a Battle of Britain pilot and support the RAF Museum.
After the incredible feedback and support in 2020, we are excited to announce that the Virtual Spitfire 10K will take place again in 2021 between 28 August and 15 September. You are invited to be part of this incredible event and challenge yourself whilst supporting the RAF Museum. A race for everyone – whether you are a regular runner or would like to try something new!
The virtual race allows you to tailor the racing experience to fit your schedule and ability. You can choose to start the race on race day at 10:00am for a real race experience; or run the entire distance at some point over the weekend. Whichever way you choose, we will be there to support and motivate you along the way. If running 10K is not for you, why not split the distance into a few runs; or maybe go on a long walk, row or a cycle. You have until 15 September, the Battle of Britain Day to complete the challenge.
Your support for this event enables the RAF Museum, a registered Charity, to tell the inspiring stories of RAF personnel, just like The Few – the courageous Battle of Britain Pilots and Crew who fought in the skies above Britain in 1940.
Saturday 28 August – Wednesday 15 September
Standard Entry: £22.50
Discounted Entry*: £20.50
*Members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs and Armed Forces Personnel will be asked to enter details to receive the discount
Additional costs to cover packaging and postage will apply for runners that join our virtual race from abroad.
Please note that booking fee is applicable when booking entry to the Spitfire 10K race online.
For the virtual race, there is no minimum age– but we do recommend under 16’s are accompanied by an adult whilst running.
Virtual Community and Virtual Leader Board
Become part of our virtual Spitfire 10k Facebook community where you can read tips and tricks to motivate yourself to get moving. Why not share running routes, hikes and dog walks. It’s a great opportunity to share photos or simply talk to like-minded runners? Click here to join to community.
Once you’ve completed your 10K, share your results with other runners using our Virtual Leader Board. Send your times in by midnight on Monday 30 August and you will be able to compete for one of our trophies and prizes.
Run with The Few!
Our Roll of Honour cards are one of the most popular elements of the race. They enable you to carry the name of a Battle of Britain Pilot with you on your run. Because we know that you all love to find out more about your pilots, we will send you the Roll of Honour Card early for 2021 – so that you have enough time to research the incredible life of ‘your’ pilot and share their stories.
Whether you talk about your pilot with your family and friends or share their stories on social media – we want you to get involved and keep their memory alive!
Fundraise for The Few and receive a free t-shirt
Help us honour those who defended our skies during the Battle of Britain by fundraising for the RAF Museum and pledging to raise £80 and receive your race day t-shirt for free.
Last year, our amazing fundraisers raised an additional £8,000 in sponsorship, this year we are hoping to reach £10,000. With your support, we will be able to continue to share the RAF Story – past, present and future. If you would like to pledge to raise £80 please select the sponsorship option when signing up online. If you have any further questions do contact firstname.lastname@example.org
