Horrific weather conditions but the overall experience was still very enjoyable due to the organisation and race stewards
Thank you to all the stewards who had to brave the wet and cold conditions but always gave encouraging comments to the runners. Also the school venue was perfect for access to the start & finish.
The only suggestion I have is that because the road was flooded in areas near the start, it might have been better to stagger the starts of the 10 mile and 5 mile races in order to reduce the crowding which occurred in the first 1/2 mile where everyone wanted to be in the middle of the road to avoid getting their shoes filled with cold water!

Cracking course- horrid weather
Would also be v good as a summer event

Great course, great run
Shuna Body
Another fun well organised event. Great atmosphere despite the weather !

Hilly Run , an amazing challenge
2026 run was a challenging one not just because of the elevation , because the runners had to face sleet , freezing temperatures and lots of puddles. Takes you through a lot of paths , has a trail too as part of the run. This year the rain just beat the view . Otherwise lovely route , lovely challenge. And having a buff instead of a medal due to being a late entry was such a bummer after the amazing challenge.

Course not as advertised!
Course is advertised as tarmac & undulating country lanes, no mention of the long stretch probably a mile of off road, slippy mud bath!
With the number of puddles stretching across the roads and potholes I would question if the race should go ahead - as you had no idea where you were putting your feet.
No idea what was said at the start, as there was no microphone/ speaker so people could hear.
Fair play to all the amazing Marshalls who encouraged all throughout & stood in the rain and freezing conditions!
Very well organised and run event, especially in awful weather conditions. Will definitely be back for 2027

Quiet roads and 2 miles of NDW
Very good pre-race communication by email. PA system needed for on the day instructions. Liked mile marking and plenty of enthusiastic marshals braving cold, wet conditions.

Smoothly run friendly event
Quick and easy number collection, warm up to the start, great atmosphere and super number of friendly encouraging Marshalls
Many thanks Peter - we're thrilled you enjoyed it!

If you hills and quiet country lanes, this baby is for you.
Glad you kept the school location. So easy to park and that's worth plenty.
Yes, the school is a superb base and we're lucky to have the use of the facilities!

Excellent route
Poor not to recognise age groups, running week at 60 should be recognised just as much as those in younger age groups
Thanks for your comment. We've liaised with our friends at A&D and whilst this was not available for this race, age category awards will be included going forward.

Super race!
Great atmosphere, well organised & just the right amount of elevation! Will book again thank you
Wow! Hard to top that Karen, but we will try next time. Thank you for your kind words

Country lanes galore
A great race. One of the smaller ones but enjoyable. No road closure but route on quiet enough lanes. Marshals plentiful and very friendly.
Really pleased you enjoyed the race, Matthew. The marshals were something else, weren't they?
Paulette Reed
A very well organised event and brilliantly marshalled. Due to the hills I would not recommend to new runners/beginners. Also liked that there is a tail walker/runner.
Thanks for your kind words, Paulette.

Beautiful course
With supportive, encouraging marshals
Thanks for your comments, Will. It is a lovely part of the world to run in and we were blessed with some stunning May weather.

Excellent
Excellent event
Thanks Ammar for your lovely comments.

Good friendly event
Overall the race is very good and has a nice route. I didn't like the changes to the finish where you now finish on Sandyhurst Lane. It adds challenges as the road isn't closed and didn't feel very safe with the cars driving past
Really pleased you enjoyed the event. It isn't possible to close all of the roads and we do have to liaise with a lot of local parties to secure the route. We do address in the pre-race brief about the use of open roads, but hope this didn't detract from your race too much.
