How your race helps: Rewilding The First Captive Cheetah from Australia
Few conservation stories capture the imagination quite like the journey of Edie, a female cheetah whose path spans continents, collaborations, and a commitment to restoring one of Africa's most iconic predators. Today, Edie thrives as a fully rewilded cheetah at Mziki Reserve, in South Africa, but her story began thousands of kilometres away at the Wild Cat Conservation Centre in Australia. Being leading experts operating at the forefront of cheetah rewilding in South Africa, The Aspinall Foundation was one of the key partners in the rewilding journey. Edie's relocation to South Africa formed part of an international partnership aiming at bolstering the genetic diversity and long-term stability of cheetah populations in the region. With global cheetah numbers continuing to decline, such cross-border cooperation is increasingly vital. Just signing up and running supports wildlife conservation stories such as these. Every step you take makes a difference.
Cheetah Champions Entry
By purchasing the Cheetah Champions entry, you will be paying an additional £12.50 as a donation to support essential veterinary care for a year, including sedation for the translocation of cheetahs to other reserves, helping to reinforce the broader cheetah metapopulation. This donations goes directly to The Aspinall Foundation so that they can continue their incredible work.
