Overview
New Year is usually a time for staying indoors after over-indulging during the festive period. So, this year, why not get out and help raise some much-needed funds for the Derby Mountain Rescue Team by undertaking this challenge? Take the dog or your family and friends for a 5k walk or perhaps you would prefer a bigger 50k or 150k challenge? By taking part in the Peak Challenge and earning this fantastic medal, you'll be greatly supporting Derby Mountain Rescue Team in saving more lives!

Running for a Cause
Derby Mountain Rescue Team is an emergency service on-call 24 hours, 365 days a year. Our prime operational area is the southern Peak District, but we also cover both rural and urban areas from Staffordshire through Derby and into Nottinghamshire.

Every member of our family, whether operational or a supporter, is an unpaid volunteer and our services have become increasingly in demand during recent years. Our annual operating costs are in the region of £65k. We receive little official funding and rely mainly on donations and fundraising events to be able to continue providing our service to those needing our help. We are additionally fundraising to equip our new base which will help us continue to provide a professional and modern capability whilst maintaining the growing demand for our service.

Who can participate
Absolutely anyone! As long as you are physically fit enough to take part then this is the challenge for you!

How do I take part? 
The event is open to everyone of all ages and abilities, and can be completed by running, walking or swimming either indoors or outdoors, in one session or over multiple sessions if you are completing the longer distances. It's easy to take part... once you have entered the virtual race we will send you a step-by-step guide. It couldn't be easier!
