The 16th Rye Summer Classic Series 10K Race One - July 10k

Join us by the sea in Rye Harbour Nature Reserve for a speedy 10k with beautiful sunset sea views!

Start line opens:  6.30 pm
Start line closes:  7.30 pm

The Rye Summer Classic Series is a popular series of three Friday evening events and in 2021 returns for the 16th year. Featuring two 10k races and a season-ending final 5k, the race taking place on Friday, 9th July is a fast and flat 10k to kick off this year's series.

The event takes place within the stunning Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, one of Britain’s most important conservation sites. The race is a chance to see the rare coastal landscape, covering a mosaic of interlocking shingle ridges, saltmarsh, intertidal grazing, reed-beds and saline lagoons.

The route is a traffic free road, out and back course on the main concrete road through the reserve. The course is accurately measured, fast and flat and, if the weather is fine, a perfect opportunity for a PB.

The event is family friendly and in addition to the main 10k race, there is a short Children’s Race which will start at 7.15pm.

The race is perfect for runners of all abilities, from those looking to complete their first 10k distance to seasoned 10k runners looking for a new PB.

You can enter a single race or save money by purchasing a three-race season ticket or a series entry. Other races in The 16th Rye Summer Classic Series include;

6th August 2021 –
The Rye Summer Classic 10K - Race Two
10th September 2021 - The Rye Summer Classic 5K - Race Three

A private medical provider will be in attendance on the day and the course will be fully marshalled to aid participants. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
As you cross the finish line please make sure you cross over the Chip Timing mat which will automatically record your official time against your race number.

Any runners wearing a bum bag around the course must be careful not to apply pressure to the timing chip on the reverse of your race number. This can cause a problem with the signals from the chip and may affect your race time. This also applies when starting/stopping your watch as you cross the line – please wait until you have crossed the mats before activating or deactivating your watch.
