The Bushy New Year 10k & 5k

Location: Bushy Park, London, KT8 9BZ
Date: Friday 31st December 2021
Time: 10:00

We are expecting the Bushy Park New Year 10k and 5k to return in January 2022. The Royal Parks are not yet in a position to confirm any dates until lockdown restrictions are fully lifted and they are happy for running events to resume.

Once we have their permission, we will then confirm the date and open up entries.

Dates will also then be confirmed for our other Bushy Park events that normally take place in the Spring, Summer as well as our Christmas race in November.

The details below are from our last Bushy Park New Year's race, but more details will be added to this page, once permissions are confirmed, so please do come back and check – and look out for announcements on our social media pages.

Why not get your New Year off to a flying start with the Bushy New Year 10k & 5k.

It is a perfect setting for a fast, flat and traffic-free Sunday morning 10k.
If you prefer, why not take on the 5k option? The course covers the tracks, trails and footpaths within the park and is suitable for runners of all abilities. Beginners welcome.

Race features chip timing - plus finish line goodies and a medal for you at the finish.

Prizes are generously sponsored by Sporting Feet, who have stores in Putney and Richmond. There will be a special spot prize for a £20 voucher for two lucky runners.

The Course
The Bushy 10k course is a two lap route covering the paths and trails within the boundaries of Bushy Park. The course has been measured using GPS but, because of its multi-terrain nature, it cannot carry a certificate of course accuracy. The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. We would ask you to remember that we do not have exclusive use of the park and you should be aware that other park users will be on the course.

The route is mostly flat and covers a selection of hard track, tarmac, and a small section on grass. You will pass around various sections of the park alongside the Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club and the Oval Plantation whilst taking in the mixture of scenic woods and lakes. You may even be lucky enough to spot one of the many roaming herds of Red or Fallow Deer that have been known to watch the start of the race on a few occasions!

You can view the course map here.

First Aid
St John Ambulance will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
Your individual time and position will be recorded by your electronic chip. We will endeavour to display results as they come into the race centre. Results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.
Getting there on foot and by bicycle
The park is easily accessible by both foot and cycle. You can leave your bicycles with us at the race registration area whilst you run.

Getting there by car
For those who wish to drive to the event there is a car park close to the start and adjacent to the Diana Fountain. Remember that the car park is shared with other park users, so you're advised to arrive as early as you can. Signage will direct you from the Park's car park to the race registration/start area.

There are disabled parking spaces located closer to the start line and if you require the use of one of these parking spaces, please email us and we can send you the details. There is strictly no parking on any grassland or roads within the park. For those using a Sat Nav the postcode for the event is KT8 9BZ.
