Come join us for this brand new relay event for the Sussex Racing Calendar.
Based on the traditional Japanese concept an Ekiden Relay is a mixture of events to complete a half marathon distance over 6 stages across the beautiful Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.
With runners completing a variety of different distances including 5k, 7.2k and 10k, this event is not just a test of speed but also tactics. Can you get the combination right and clinch the title?
We will have prizes for running clubs, community groups as well as corporate challenge so everyone can get involved!
We will also have a Junior Ekiden for the younger runners taking place shortly before the main event.
The event is aimed to raise funds for the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and the construction of their new discovery centre. There will also be a range of refreshments and activites for all the family.
There will be a memento for all finishers of the event.
The format of the event involves teams of 6 completing legs in the following order 5k, 2.5k, 7.5k, 2.5k, 2.5k, 1k.

Each leg will be run through the picturesque Rye Harbour Nature Reserve starting and finishing close to the entrance to the nature reserve.
First Aid St John Ambulance or an alternative medical provider will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
Your individual time and position will be recorded by manual time keepers. We will endeavour to display results as they come into the race centre. Results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.
The Race Headquarters will be at Rye Harbour Sailing Club. There is on site parking for Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, which will be well signposted as you come into Rye Harbour Village. Please take note of any local parking charges that may be applicable.
The closest railway station is Rye (Sussex), but it is around 2.5 miles from there to the race HQ. You may wish to run, walk or cycle, but there are limited bus services available for the area.
