The Saltwood Boxing Day Run - Postponed

**Important Update**

We have been in close communication with the Saltwood Committee over the course of the past week whilst we have seen this current surge in the new Covid variant.

Whilst our Governing body, UK Athletics have not amended their guidance and live races may continue in their current format, the committee have made the very difficult decision to cancel this year's race.

The team feel that the nature of the race, with over 1000 runners taking part, it is impossible to enable a Covid-safe race. Our priority is and has always been our running community's safety. We feel that it will be extremely difficult to keep our runners, spectators, volunteers and the local community safe in this current surge of the new variant.

There is a great deal of uncertainty around participating in live races at present. Please know that this has been a very hard decision to make.

After a Covid-enforced absence, this popular Boxing Day Run will celebrate its 46th staging in 2021. The charity run traditionally attracts a huge 1000 plus entry and the challenging run is three miles of mud and hills - the perfect hangover cure.

The off road course uses the footpaths, fields and trails in and around Saltwood - and is suitable for both experienced runners and beginners alike.

Medal to all finishers.
All ages welcome.

The Course
The Saltwood Boxing Day run comprises a  single lap, undulating course using the paths around Saltwood. Expect Mud, Mud and a bit more mud! The route will be marked with directional route arrows and marshalled to provide additional assistance.

First Aid
St John Ambulance or an alternative medical provider will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep runner following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
Your individual time and position will be recorded by your timing chip. Due to the large amount of on the day entries results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.
