The Deal Half Marathon is a challenging course using the roads through the villages of Betteshanger, Sutton, Ripple, Langdon and Martin Mill. The route will be officially measured and carries a certificate of course accuracy. There will be 4 water stations located at 3, 5, 7 and 10 miles, plus there will be toilets located at miles 5 and 10 - what luxury!
The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows, as well as being marshalled throughout. Please note that the roads will not be closed for the event and, although they are quiet lanes, there is a chance you may meet a vehicle on the route. Due to the race taking place on open roads, headphones are banned for this event and anyone seen wearing headphones during the race will be disqualified.
The race has a cut off time of 02:50:00 and you must pass through halfway in 01:25:00.
The race headquarters are based at Betteshanger Country Park and there are toilets and limited showering facilities available in the Visitor Centre. Additional toilet facilities will be available at the registration and close to the start and finish area.
St John Ambulance or an alternative medical provider will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
Race HQ: Betteshanger Country Park (formerly Fowlmead Country Park), Sholden, Deal, Kent CT14 0BF
The Deal Half Marathon takes place at Betteshanger Country Park (formerly Fowlmead) and is accessible by car, rail - and, of course, on foot and by bike.
The park is accessible by foot via two entrances. The main entrance is off the main roundabout at Shodlen on the A258 Deal to Sandwich Road. The rear gate entrance is a 15 minute walk from Southwall Road, Deal.
For those who wish to drive to the event there is ample parking available at the Race HQ. The park is located just off the A258 approximately 2 miles from Deal, Kent. It is within 10 miles of the A2 at Whitfield. Please note that there is a charge for the car park (£2 per day); however, it gives you a full day's parking, so we encourage runners and spectators to make the most of the visit and take a look around the country park.
The closest railway stations are Deal and Sandwich. You will then need to get a taxi or cycle to the event.
