The Hastings Runners 5 Mile offers a fast and flat course along the scenic seafront of Hastings. The race is held in memory of former member Keith Chandler who joined Hastings Runners in the early 90's and remained a member until his death in 2005. All proceeds from the race are donated to St Michael's Hospice.
Since it's inception to the running calendar in 2006, the race has gone from strength to strength and now attracts many quality runners from all over the South East as shown by it's steadily falling course records. The course being pancake flat offers the more experienced runners the chance for a personal best or the perfect race for those new to running or looking at completing their first 5 mile race.
The race starts outside the historic Town Hall in the centre of Hastings adjacent to Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, whose generous sponsorship helps to stage the race.
There are medals on offer to all finishers plus complimentary massage and chiropody available.
There is a prize giving for category winners which will commence at 12 noon.
There is a £100 prize for setting a new course record plus a bonus £50 for posting a time under 25 minutes (Male) and under 28 minutes (Female).

The course starts outside the historic Town Hall in the centre of Hastings adjacent to Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, who's generous sponsorship helps to stage the race. The race then makes it's way onto the Hastings Promenade and continues past the Hastings Pier, Warrior Square and many more of Hastings' famous landmarks. The course then turns back and makes its way back along to the promenade before entering the historic Old Town and returning back to the Town Hall for the finish.
The race is flat, fast and completely traffic free, with the exception of two initial road closures near the start of the race. Cycle lanes do adjoin the course and runners are advised to consider the safety of cyclists as well as themselves, although there will be marshals along the route to assist you.
First Aid St John Ambulance or an alternative medical provider will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep runner following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
Your individual time and position will be recorded by your electronic chip. We will endeavour to display results as they come into the race centre. Results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.
